Nemaha NRD Accepting Tree Orders for Spring 2023
Nemaha NRD Accepting Tree Orders for Spring 2023
The Nemaha Natural Resources District (NNRD) is once again accepting tree orders through its Conservation Tree Program. The Program encourages the planting and maintenance of trees and shrubs for windbreaks, shelterbelts, wildlife habitat, firewood, and Christmas trees. A variety of bare root trees and shrubs are available for $1.25 each and sold in lots of 25. “We have a few additional new species of hardwoods this year; Black Oak, Northern Pecan, and Shagbark Hickory.” said tree program coordinator, Mark McDonald. “These hardwoods were specifically chosen for their excellent wildlife benefits and aesthetics.”
Planting services are available for a fee, upon request, for orders over 200. If you are interested in the planting services, please contact the NNRD office to prepare a planting plan. The last day for NNRD machine planted tree orders is January 31, 2022. If the ground is in sod, it must be worked this fall. The last day for over-the-counter tree orders is March 15, 2023. Species availability is limited so order early to secure your trees and shrubs.
